Good to see the whiting showing up,not so good to see pr1cks building fires, only a matter of time before they shut the pier for good and people then ask why ..... can anyone please explain to me why myself and a number of others are in negotiation with Sunderland Council about access to fishing areas when people are prepared to accept fires and bottles being thrown about and say nothing ...

agree whole heartedly andy, as you know theres no one as easy going as me but as i'm getting older i'm becoming intollerent of this, what i call an "underclass" is ruining our fishing especially on the pier (even in the winter months though magnified problem in the summer), i started a thread on this matter in 2008 which went on for quite a few pages with many differing views on the matter. heres a link to the thread if anyones interested.

roker pier 22-9-12
went for a session last night met up with CODFATHER 145 and mad mate ROB
from 6 till 1-45 in morning
got right on the end which there was about 5 allready on there they where pulling whiting in for fun and to be honest we barely got a bite for a couple of hours one of them caught a flatty on the float couldnt believe it
decided to move down next to the wall casting seaward then it was a fish or fishes a cast singles and doubles coming in
caught my 1st eel and between the 3 of us we must of had 40 whiting keeping enough to eat and releasing about 25
there was some lads in the corner decided to make a bonfire and to be honest it could of burned all night with the rubbish some of the fishermen left disgraceful not the younguns adults
talking to a teenager lad he had been pelted with stella bottles the previous weekend from lads off the end
cheers to stevie (codfather 145 ) for providing the majority of the bait and also filleting the fish on the steps of the pier
PS. thanks to codseeker for the magic purple childs wand it worked a treat m8
baits used RAG, MUSCLE, CRAB, MACKERAL AND SQUID
rag tipped with squid seemed to be the killer but to be honest i think robs ham and pease pudding sarnies would of pulled them in
