roker pier 22-9-12
went for a session last night met up with CODFATHER 145 and mad mate ROB
from 6 till 1-45 in morning
got right on the end which there was about 5 allready on there they where pulling whiting in for fun and to be honest we barely got a bite for a couple of hours one of them caught a flatty on the float couldnt believe it
decided to move down next to the wall casting seaward then it was a fish or fishes a cast singles and doubles coming in
caught my 1st eel and between the 3 of us we must of had 40 whiting keeping enough to eat and releasing about 25
there was some lads in the corner decided to make a bonfire and to be honest it could of burned all night with the rubbish some of the fishermen left disgraceful not the younguns adults
talking to a teenager lad he had been pelted with stella bottles the previous weekend from lads off the end
cheers to stevie (codfather 145 ) for providing the majority of the bait and also filleting the fish on the steps of the pier
PS. thanks to codseeker for the magic purple childs wand it worked a treat m8
baits used RAG, MUSCLE, CRAB, MACKERAL AND SQUID
rag tipped with squid seemed to be the killer but to be honest i think robs ham and pease pudding sarnies would of pulled them in

Good to see the whiting showing up,not so good to see pr1cks building fires, only a matter of time before they shut the pier for good and people then ask why ..... can anyone please explain to me why myself and a number of others are in negotiation with Sunderland Council about access to fishing areas when people are prepared to accept fires and bottles being thrown about and say nothing ...

If you say something to these drunking idiots you'll probably end up with a good kicking and/or a bottle in your neck. If you would say something then fine but don't pressure other people who have the sense to avoid confrontation with these ar*eholes to.

well said m8 to be honest there was a lot of them noise, rubbish and fire and there was another 50 or so anglers on there but to be honest i dont think it would of made a difference but i agree they will get places closed to the genuine angler for good

Seriously what is the the Answer im in a meeting Thursday regarding antisocial behaviour on the Roker Pier, maybe giving it over to a fishing club and locking the gates on a night, heavy fines for trespass and loss of tackle for persistent offenders or even a total fishing ban, these are just a few of the measures being proposed that we are fighting against,we are already pushing for police patrols and a enforcement of the alcohol free zone,we are at a loss as to the answer ...

I whole heartedly agree with what you are doing and wanting to do. While good old fashioned vigilante tatics is appealing, you really don't know what people are capable of these days. I'm all for putting a stop to it but unfortunatly I don't know a particually good answer either. What you have suggested above makes sense but it costs money and councils don't like spending money.

hello m8 i dont accept wot happens on the piers but how do you stop anglers from leaving rubbish un educated tramps simple as, drinking and smashing bottles
no answer for which i could put on here and fires ????? i here wot you say and i hope the meetings go well but at the moment this happens on the piers and i think you cant change peoples mind sets especially as they are adults not just the younguns who do get the blame hope you get wot we all want good luck

my main worry is the fact that a no fishing sign and a padlock cost nothing to a Council, the police are required to act in incidents of trespass so that costs nothing we are really on a loser if a answer cannot be found ...

ya dont get much of the knobs down the pier in the winter and it seem to be ok its only the summer when its a problem so why give it to a club it doesn't work for seaham pier cos most of the lads climb on any way and the same at tynemouth the only answer is police it its not rocket science it always get blow out of proportion this time of year then in the winter it will die off nee one says out till the summer comes back.

Do ya really think the police will walk the length of the pier. ??? plus it is all ready a alcohol free zone and as for the rubbish it not hard to put it in ya bag but if there nee bins why dont the council get a guy with a bin to pick it up every day its a council pier and they do pick rubbish up on the streets so why not the pier.

Dont get me wrong Andy i know what ya say and trying to do i dont fish the pier in the summer thats my answer and i fish it now and again in the winter. i would rather fish a beach or a rock mark

Your right in what you say about the piers, but pressure is being put on the police to do exactly that and walk the pier as well as enforce the Alcohol free zone that is as you rightly stated is already in place,Sunderland Council could easily ban fishing and that would be a easy answer but when promoting sport and recreation on our coastline as well as sponsoring the Sunderland angling festival it would be hypocritical to do so .... im in total agreement about the time of year come the winter months everything will be back to normal..

When it comes to Policing the pier, especially on a weekend night, there aint many of us about that are free to take a walk along.

I imagine the council will look at the other piers to see what they do of a night time and as someone already said a padlock and sign is a much cheaper option unfortunatley.

hi mate i come on here to post welldone on your catch report not to gan on and highjack your thread like others :o
