we headed out at 7am, heading north first. reports over the last few weeks have seen some good fish taken.
there was a nice tug just off the tyne today, looked like a beast
the day started off slow, only the odd fish coming in, mackerel were scarce again. i was doing ok, odd cod and ling coming in, nothing huge but they were there. i was picking away getting a few fish, a lad next to me got a huge mackerel 1lb 10oz
belter fish.
shortly after his son had something sizeable on, he soon had a cod and a ling
probably about 15lb of fish,
he was knackered after that, needed a good ten mins rest.
we were picking away on most wrecks, nothing huge but plenty of them, the next move was a good one, we hit a wreck that was alive with fish, and good ones, thought i had my first double cod with this beauty, went about 9 1/2lb but i didnt weigh it on dry land so i couldn't get a accurate weight
we picked away at them, until i got a cracking take, massive fish, as soon as it took the bait it was back in the wreck and there as nowt i could do, it was away as fast as i hooked it, easily 20lb+, all in all it was a good day, i caught more than anyone, luminous muppets done the damage again. my freezer is well stocked up now
