I've just received these details from a good mate of mine. I don't think anyone else has reported it on here so I'll pass it on and hopefully save someone a few quid.

Beware of parcel service scam

With Christmas vast approaching I have been notified by the Royal Mail & Trading Standards about a firm calling itself PDS (Parcel Delivery Service)
The scam starts by a post card being put through your door, stating that this company tried to deliver a parcel to you, and there was no one at home.
You are then asked to telephone 0906 6611911 (A Premium rate number)

DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER, AS IT A MAIL SCAM OPERATING FROM BELIZE.

If you do call this number you have already been billed for the sum of £15 for this call.

If you do receive such a card through your letter box contact Royal Mail Fraud Section on Tel. 02072396655 or the ICSTIS (The premium rate Service Regulators at PhonePayPlus - ICSTIS is re-branding

It's a bit of a golden oldie this one, which for some reason has started doing the rounds again. Basically, it was pretty much true a couple of years ago, but is all shut down now. See www.hoax-slayer.com/pds-phone-scam.html. (Obviously, it always pays to be careful anyway...)
