PA systems

Not a fishing topic but i know we have people on here with all sorts of knowledge and i am really struggling.
What i am looking for is quote from local companies for a portable PA,nothing fancy just the sort that is used at weddings ,garden fetes etc.
But i need a written quote for a grant application and sites like E bay are no good.
Got something from Maplin but after trawling the yellow pages and the net i can only find really top end stuff or gear for hire.
So any pointers would be a great help,i really didn't think it would be this much of a problem.
Cost wise around 100-120 quid.
Cheers

depends on what you mean by pa system, i often install big systems in night clubs but the price you are quoting would't pay for the price of a mike ,if you want a pa system for that price you ain't going to get anything new ,first you need an amplifier ,[at least one] then you need speakers, high to mid range and also a bass bin to give you a bit of deep resonance, then you need a small mixing deck ,then the mikes ,also the cd decks if you want to play some music, and that's just for starters ,belive me, unfortuantly your 100 to 120 is't going to get you nothing.

what do you want to use it for?? gigging/band PA, or just something big and loud for music??

plenty of cheap mixer head units around second hand 150W ish which is plenty loud enough for small venues

depends on what you want it for and what you are expecting.

we did some brilliant gigs way back when with a "white" (remember them - made in sunderland) 150 mixer/amp and a pair of 2x12" H&H speakers, cost me £75 second hand!

was 15 or more years ago but electronics are way cheaper these days

of allt he things you shouldn't skimp on if its for any sort of vocal use is a decent mike. have a look on ebay for 'shure sm58'

utterly bombproof pro mike

All i want it for is to amplify my voice to a smallish crowd around 20/30 people.
No music,no huge sound just so i do not have to shout

Would it be worth while looking into a small practice guitar amp type thing the son has one he can plug a mic in and its loud enough for what you seem to want and very portable

Prob your best bet for your budget...small amps can cost about £50-60 depending on the brand and then whatever your mic' costs - like has been said you get what you pay for with these things
