Mag brakingMag brakingMag braking is explained by Lenz law as stated previously.The purpose of the magnets is to produce a magnetic field within the reel with the spool. It does not rely on magnetic attraction, ie the spools are aluminium alloy in most cases which is non magnetic. How the 4 magnets North and South poles are placed will affect the magnetic field produced and hence the braking effect. Not sure how much it will effect braking.I do not know the correct orientation of magnets but would suggest contacting manufacturer and asking or take a look in another reel.regards
