New PB

Ventured down to the coast today with my matey Rocky. Initially we intended to cover a good span of ground by drifting north on the ebbing tide, but the offshore breeze picked up so strong that it became unrealistic as we had to constantly battle our way back in.

At one point I was even happy to sit tied to a lobster pot marker for the rest.

However we ended up conceding to fish close to the old pier wall where we were somewhat sheltered

Infact it become so uncomfortable further out that we were joined by a gentleman fishing from a small boat

Nevermind, replicating the last time I fished close to the pier we were both quickly successful with cod to about 2lb. Infact, true to form Rocky ended up with two to my one!
For a while it looked as though that was going to be it for the day.
Then, on a final drift a huge thud of a pull yielded a corker!

The scales showed it to be 4kg, which apparently equates to 8.81lb or more precisely 8lb 13 oz. Which for me equates to a new PB, yeepee!!

Although given there is always the element of competition when two men fish, at two fish each I still only managed to draw with Rocky.

But hey there is always next time.

Congrats Trevor it was a lovely fish, similar stamp to what i had yesterday on the boat. Yeah, it was a breezy morning, i couldn’t believe how close to the pier the fish were. I rekon i would have caught that if i hadn’t had forgotten to put a parking ticket on car and had to paddle back to do so😂😂😂😂 Anyway i traded one of my fish for a ticket from a fellow kayaker who was leaving the car park.

Hahahahaha, yeh, I love your optimism. I actually think the one you caught was bigger, but hey I think if I had been with you on your uncles boat I would have caught it hahaha.
