BOTH VERY GOOD REELS IN THEIR OWN RIGHTS. CAN'T SPEAK FOR THE 525 AS I HAVEN'T OWNED ONE, AS FOR THE 7HT I DO. ALL I WILL SAY IS "SHIELDS PIER FISHING INTO THE BLOCKS RESULTING IN A 8lb COD" AND YES USING THE 525 WOULD OF ACHIEVED THE SAME RESULT I GUESS.
the penn 525 reel is a reel that will pull the plug out from the seabed 30lb line , like the 535 also with the right strentgh line on winter choice for me is 30lb straight through 535 ya get plenty 40lb on it also
Brilliant reel for the rivers/clean ground. As for having guts, I hooked into a 12lb+ cod on the third arch one year using it and it never gave me a bit of bother. Lost the fish though.
