you can fish the cliffs mixed to rough ground but if ya want to get out the wind try fishing the first aid hut mixed ground there park just past the roundabout and walk down the bank it costs you to park in the grotto car park before 7pm mate
plus it save a walk up them steps.
Thanks Eddie, is that the roundabout north of the grotto ? towards shields ? Sorry if its a daft question mate I don't know the marks along there very well.

Thanks again Eddie, nice mark and seems to be a decent depth ? Didn't get the hoped for Codling (or Bass even) but a coley before dark and a few whiteys (decent size) after kept me busy. Missed one proper pull down and slack liner on Kart just before dark. Tip jagged down and just dropped back nodding. You know that feeling when you just expect to pick the rod up and it's on. Nowt there and the bait was shredded. Met a nice lad from Shields club who gave me some more info on the area too. Good craic. The tide pushed me up onto the steps in the end !
Just one snood mate, I could feel my gear bouncing through rocks and stuff on the retrieve but managed to get it back every time. Got better for the retrieve as the bay filled up.
Bit of a favorite spot of mine in front of the grotto . Have fished it regular now for some time and am finally getting to grips of when to fish it . Im fairly new to beach fishing so been a steep curve ,but it def one of my fav marks . Posted report today from fishing there tues night
Nice to meet you too mate and thanks for your help and advice. Just after you left some decent whiting started to show. One of them wolfed a giant chunk of Cart down, I thought it had to be a codling but no dice. Just nice to be there 'though.
