Decided to try Marsden last night last 3 hours of ebb. Got camped in next to Camels Island ready for the big sea which never really came. I should have gone onto the island really I guess, but I had never fished it before and was concerned if the forecast big sea arrived it could have swamped the causeway. Anyway that didn't happen. Plenty of bites on all baits but it was Coleys up to just size hammering into big cocktail baits on 4/0. Could have caught a load on smaller baits but I had my mind on a Cod. Hooked one slightly better fish but got snagged on retrieve and eventually it threw the hook. But it didn't really feel like a Codling if you know what I mean. Anyway nice to be out and away from the wind. Determined to catch a decent cod this year so I will keep trying. Seemed pretty snaggy there and I lost a few leads and even 2 whole rigs despite the rotten bottom system I was using. I found a clear spot in front of the Island towards Marsden Rock I think but it was hard to hit every time in the dark/wind.
