Had an impromptu session last night as I was just sat at home bored and the weather looked decent. I checked the tides, high was around 10 pm so that was it, pulled a light beachcaster out, grabbed my seatbox, raided the freezer for some bait and headed the 25miles to the coast. Got set up around 9pm on the Prom and after a quick natter with a couple of lads from the locker loaded a 2 hook flapper with mussel on the bottom hook, crab on the top (all frozen, nowt fresh) and proceeded to pull a small whitey in 1st cast, ok so it was small but at least I wasn't going home with a blank if nothing else happened. The amount of bait fish in the shallows was quite a sight to watch and also saw a few good fish jumping ( i thought they looked like Sea Trout but i'm unsure)Anyway this gave me hope of landing something decent and if I'd of had my spinning gear with me I'm sure sport would have been good. So back to the bait rod story, the 1st whiting was soon followed quickly by a nice flattie around 30cms then after that had a good spell of fish in a short time by changing to frozen Blacks, I ended up with 3 flatties and two whiting, did a bit of star spotting, International Space Station Spotting and caught a few shooting stars but pray as I might the elusive Bass didn't show up for me so at half eleven I packed up and set off home. Lovely evening and had a bit of sport over the two and a half hours I fished, all fish returned fit and well.
