Fixed spool reels and braid for rough ground

who's using fixed spool reels and braid for rough ground?

Ive got some thin braid on my surfblaster braid spool for the beach, but was thinking about putting some stronger braid on the bigger spool, to try in rough ground.

what strength line would be best? do you use a shock? and what strength line for rigs/hooklengths/rotten bottoms???

hi andy got some 60lb whiplash on one of my reels still casts great even overhead,

i normaly put a cheaper braid leader on stops the thinner stuff from cutting thro on finger. i normaly go about 100lb on cheaper leader ie stuff from china and as i dont know how reliable it is.

just incoperate a rotten bottom and bobs your uncle my panel pin rotten are what i like to use cheap and effective.

Got sick of losing weights and rigs at Seaham Spiles on mono so went for 50lb braid I still use a 60lb mono shock for the abrasions in the rocks and just in case 50lb isn't quite enough for a good 6oz lead with a hefty overhead thump.

Now, with the rig itself I use 30lb snoods and a 30lb rotten bottom. Most of the times I snag I get a hook snapping or the rotten bottom but I definitely lose less tackle than I did.

If you need braid I have loads up to 90lb even. £7.50 a 300m spool. Just pm me.
