cork fishing

well , finally got sick of casting spinners out and hauling mackerel in, plus I have enough for winter bait now. I still enjoy catching them but it wears out my arm, so I tried cork fishing, I had seen it done in spain and I had done there too . For those who haven't heard of it before it is just beach casting but using a sliding lead and attaching a cork to your hook snood about six inches from the hook to allow the bait to float off the bottom at a depth you will have to determine. I find about 4ft usually works. make sure your rod is secure because when the mackerel hits the bait it goes off like a steam train. Great fun and not as tiring. I wanted to try out my reels ready for the winter cod. give it a go.

yes , it's amazing how they go for it. I was getting good bites at low tide yesterday evening. I also stuck a bit of power bait(left over from my trouting days) they went bonkers and hit it immediately. I enjoy it much more than spinning. once you get the height right you're laughing.

had another good sesh last night, all caught on cork method. (mackerel). had bites as soon as it hit the water. and every single cast.
