Well with this barmy weather i decided to have a couple of hours float fishing off Blyth Pier with the expectation of Coalies and maybe Mackerel.
Done the usual "forgot something essential" like my bait and had to turn back after 3 miles!!!
Anyway, got there for 3pm chucked out a float rig with Ragworm tipped with Macky and the depth was set at about 7-8ft. Plugged in my earphones to listen to the Toon match while i watched my float. Not a lot of response.
I increased the depth to somewhere around 12ft and that seemed to do the trick. Ended up with 4 Coalies and 2 Mackerel after I left at 5.15pm. The Coalies where probably just undersize and went back OK. The Macky were kept for the freezer.
Something about float fishing which I love......when you see it dragged under and you lift to feel the fish. Couldn't be a***d with the spinning M'larky and it wasn't producing much either from what I saw.
Caught a few fish, the Toon won...great afternoon really.
