Tried blyth pier ( the end ) today with my mate Adam who is new to fishing, we got there for 7.30am we set up two rods my 12ft beachcaster and a little spinning rod using 2oz sinkers for it, we were using rag worm and mackerel for bait, for the first two hours we got lots of little knocks but only 1 small coley which dropped of the hook about a foot in front of me mate, which I found hilarious but my friend not so much.
at about 10am we joined on the end of the pier by a lad called Jimmy who turned out to be a spot on fella really friendly and helpfull, I had met jimmy on the pier once before about 2 months ago when he dropped his car and house keys through a hole in the pier decking, what a sickna but he took it like a man were i would have been crying, a lad off the pier who had 'nt met him before that day offered and subsequently drove him home to get his spare keys, Jimmy very kindly gave me all his bait which he could have frozen.

An hour after the hightide we got some good positive knocks on the little rod and I instructed my friend Adam to start reeling in the result was a flounder it gave a good fight on the light gear and was about 10 inches and I am estimating about 1lb, he was chuffed to bits, then about 20 minutes later jimmy caught a flounder not as big as the first one but not bad, then half an hour later I caught a coley about 7-8 inches long, it was about 11.30 am by now and we fished till 3pm getting lots of knocks and the bait getting nibbled at but not managing to catch out, despite the lack of fish I had a cracking day out, my mate loved it and is hooked, and I met Jimmy under better circumstances and had a good laugh, also we got a visit from a seal just as we were finishing it was cracking size so at least someone has been catching fish.
