Well my first fishing session of the season with the tack4s was well overdue and I was looking forward to fishing with Andrew,Caitlin and Kyle again. For company I also had Ross with me. I had first met Ross last year when he was camping on the Clash site.
Ross and I arrived at the venue first and set up with sliding floats on light spinning gear. Wrasse were our target fish,Ross had bought some ragworm at Ardwell Marine and I had knocked off a few limpets off the rocks on Drummore beach. We had set our floats to fish our baits at about 15'.
Ross was in within seconds with his first wrasse. A quick pose for the camera and the fish went straight back.
Ross had another wrasse and a pollack before I eventually managed to hook my first wrasse.
We managed a few more fish each before Andrew,Caitlin and Kyle turned up. Andrew had dug his bait somewhere in Luce Bay due to the worms being wiped out in Loch Ryan. I just hope that situation resolves itself asap. Anyway Kyle managed to winkle out a tiny wrasse on his first cast,it must have been the smallest wrasse I have ever seen.
Caitlin was next in
Andrew had his "fluff chucking" head on and pollack were his target fish. Here is a shot of the big man in action, notice the lure wizzing over his head.
It did not take him too long to connect with a pollack. Nice one Andrew.
Ross comes from a game fishing/fly fishing background and he blagged a go on Andrews fly outfit.
I decided to climb a bit higher to get a shot of his casting action. I took this picture just seconds before the rod tip snapped clean off !!!!!!! OOPS Andrew did not seem at all phased about it and said he would get it replaced by Hardys. Ross was fairly stressed about it though.
Well it had been a most enjoyable session with everyone catching fish. No big fish had been caught but its not all about catching is it!!! Having a laugh and a bit craic with your mates is part of the big picture. Also pleased to report that all of the fish were safely returned.
Anyway we headed back to our caravan and got a carryout from the Clash. All of us decided on a curry of some description. After that it was a game of Trivial Pursuit and numerous beers - for the adults anyway!. The tack4s also stayed the night with us. Well we all had a great time and I am looking forward to the next one.
