EFTTA, the European Fishing Tackle Trade Association, has updated its listing of randomly tested monofilament lines online at www.eftta.com. Twice a year, EFTTA randomly buys monofilament samples from across the world and tests these samples in an independent laboratory on their diameter and breaking strength.
The May results have been published in the international press, on the EFTTA website and at EFTTEX 2008 in Rome, Italy.
EFTTA is now branching out and looking at taking their linetesting stand to consumer fishing fairs across Europe in 2009. “Now we have educated the trade side about miss labelling it is time for EFTTA to meet the consumers and let them know of our findings” Vicki Seymour, current Project Assistant of EFTTA comments.
Manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers alike are always interested in receiving the new latest results of our testing rounds. It allows them to benchmark their products against competitors’ products and it guides retailers as to which monofilaments they should offer in their shops.
EFTTA Hopes that people in the trade and the consumer market still check the EFTTA website as they are updating the line test page every time a new line is tested.
EFTTA introduced the line testing programme in 2004 and has since awarded EFTTA approved logos to more than 95 lines. These lines have been tested in laboratory controlled conditions and indicate the correct diameter and breaking strength on the packaging of their lines. A comprehensive list of these lines is available online at www.eftta.com.
