If you wait until later in the year I might have a session with you and can give you some pointers. Im probably going to concentrate on harder waters in Scotland and the lakes this year though and try to whittle out bigger fish. My mate just loves to catch so we tend to mix it up with sport days too where we go for numbers. Our records stand at joint 30 between us and single haul 18 me and 16 my mate. He once had 11 from one loch andanother 5 from another. All jacks though biggest 8-9 pound.

Jonny, give me a shout when you are wanting to go and I'll try and recommend a decent place. I've fished most of the lochs on the west side of the Borders. I know the runs waters if you want to just catch. As for baits, some baits work better than others on certain waters. My favourite bait is probably morrissons sardines, bought early fresh and then frozen in packs to take away. I always use a variety of baits and to be honest when they are feeding they will take anything. I've caught on maybe 12 different baits in a good session. Pollen works well this time of year or generally weedy venues as it is naturally buyant.

Jonny, local to us is rubbish. I haven't fished bolam as another half hour and I'd be in Scotland. Not fished qe2 but heard they lost pike and restocked. Sometimes it's worth sitting out for bigger fish. There is the river Tees too for pike and the wear has pike too.
