Is there anyone that uses a conoflex-anubis, had any trouble with it?
i have ordered one and after ordering i saw some comments around on the net
which have confused me a bit. its 50/50 good and bad.
now i would like to ask the people who know these things(you guys):)
i have been away from the N.E. for about 20 odd years and live in denmark.
i grew up around sunderland/durham area where i used fish the piers and coast-line. am really glad to have found this site. great to see pics and read up on whats happening over there! :D

I now live in Fife, but was brought up and still fish the N.E of England around the Tyne area. I have an Anubis Plus and it is an excellent heavy ground rod with loads of backbone. Nice to use and forgiving during the cast it can skull drag coddies through the kelp no problem. I have not used it for dragging fish up a cliff yeet but it is an excellent rock rod and well worth the price tag. Got mine for £190 off ebay and it was a custom built model which is still in tip top condition.

would'nt have one for nowt,a mate of mine snapped his while fishing the walkway in south shields with a overhead thump.after contacting conoflex the outcome is he still has a rod thats in three bits and worth f&&&all.its a major fault with the rod, ive heard of five that have snapped.the after sales at conoflex leaves a lot to be desired.YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED THERE SHI&E

YOU SEE 50/50 again;) all i can do now is pray i get a good one.
you`d think at them prices they would give a garantee for a least 5 yrs.

do you think there is a difference in quality between custom built rods and "finished and in the shop rods".? mine is getting custom built which is giving me a little bit more hope .

OR do i still have the 2 hopes no-hope and ryhope.LOL

still the same blank mate. never used one myself as my favour are century rods but a mate of mine has one and he swears by it and he fishes nothing but the heavy ground. as for rods snapping i have see greys, conoflex, century and ron t and diawa rods snap in the past so its not just down to one make, its the person using it or a fault in the blank in the first place:) so dont worry mate you enjoy your fishing with your new rod:D

Thanks for your reply red rock, i just read a zziplex report which said they have a dosen rods a year returned, mostly its the anglers fault, resting it on steel rails and concrete walls etc. they should be treated with great care,
i mainly use a light 11ft bass-rod which i could tie in a knot without breaking it!:D its good enough for the flat sandy beaches of denmark, but not the rough rocky areas which iam targeting(thats where the cod are!) well the cod season is slowly starting over here.still waiting for me rod, takes 6 weeks:(

anubis

anubis

got the 7oz one for the rocks. fished marks from beadnell to the tyne in heavy kelp, never had a prob and it drags cod out the heavy beds with ease. developed by bob gascoign and alec harvey, two of the norths top anglers, the rods were specifically designed for robust use. all rods will snap if you get a badun which ever make it is, all i can say is ive got one and a century and never had a prob with either.

Well i will take my chances, and be careful with it.think i will get a zziplex next year. thanks lads great info. still 50/50 but its only money:o;)

jan/feb are the worst months:( then in march they start coming in at night. then april/may/june great evening fishing!:D
they come really close in (smtimes you can see them splashing on the surface).as most danes are spin/fly fishermen they catch a lot, actually most cod over here are caught on a spinner:o. not me i like the good old N.E.Style;)
july/aug.it goes down hill a bit, but still good night fishing.(cod feed after dark by morning they are full up and swim to deep water, making morning/day fishing a waste of time) then its high season sept/oct/nov and the starting of dec.when you can catch them all day long...if they are there of coarse!
" you cant pluck roses where no roses grow";)

by the way seatrout are the main target for danes. me i love the ol`coddies:D

Hi Ronvik, When your new rod turns up, take it out of the bag and lash a reel on to it, clip the specified weight lead (max weight ), and give it some wellie . Also, deliberately get a fast hold on the sea bed and give it some more wellie. if it's gonna go, it's gonna go , but if it stays in one piece you are going to have all the confidance you need when you have to get that distance , or bully the fish through the rough stuff. :)

CHEERS! top fly i`ll do that. if your a flyfisherman, you should try it over here!
waders and some study of the best places, great! just make sure you bring plenty cash, its bloody exspensive over here if your a turist. even more if you live here over:o over 40%tax on your wages:eek:

any rod will snap in the wrong hands, bad casting style is one of the biggest parts to play and people just hacking away with them, treat your gear with care and it will last:)

YOU DEAD RIGHT THERE M8 BUT IVE SEEN LOTS AF MODERN GREYS SNAP WITHOUT GIVING THEM SOME STICK AND IVE SEEN 2 ANUBISIS SNAP DOWN FROM TIP just striking for a fish it would put me of spending me pennies one one

Have got a number of Conoflex and Century rods, the Anubis Plus is an excellent rod as already stated. All rods will snap if they are misused or damaged especially with composite wrap build. I would not compare a Conoflex Anubis to a Greys mk2 Apollo, they are not in the same build league. I know people who have snapped Zipplex rods, they blame themselves rather than the rods knowing fine well that at some time the rod may have been damaged falling out of a rod rest etc. If you clean your rod carefully after each trip you will spot any possible rod damage. Remember you are casting 6ozs of lead from zero to 70mph + in a matter of seconds ! Dont be so quick to blame the rod !

personal reveiw: had my "anubis 6oz std." now for 2 mths, i have really put it through its paces and think its a very good rod indeed. i have used it a lot both on the grass field and out fishing. its very good to cast with, bit hard to get used to with pendullum casts but thats proberbly just me as i rarely use that style and iam used to softer tip rods, well "over the head thumb","o.t.g." "swinging brighton" can achieve good distances with it anyway! it has great bite detection even with small fish, flatties, rocklings etc. which surprized me concidering its a stiff rod. i have used it on sandy beaches and on rough ground and its a pleasure to use in both situation.
simply love it.. :D

I Have Had A Greys Appollo Mk1 Now For Over Ten Years And I Have Had No Problems Whatsoever With It. Both Cod Fishing And Summer Flatty Fishing Cant Fault It!
