COMMENTS ON DAVIDS BOOK.

Was expecting things to slow down during Feb, March and April - after Xmas and before the summer fishing kicks off - but it hasn\'t really so that\'s been a bonus. Had a nice e-mail yesterday:

Dear David,

Just a note to say how much I enjoyed \'The Codling Crouch\'. So many fishing books are either the same \'how to\' rehashes, or oversentimentalised whimsy. Your writing is plain and to the point, but builds a very real atmosphere. Fab photos too - the red codling are positively exotic. You could be a trendsetter - I\'m not brave enough to try a scarboro, but the creel looks so \'right\' I\'m searching ebay for one...

Thanks for a great read,

As the summer is, hopefully, about to kick off just a reminder of the outlets stocking copies of the book:

Frasers - Whitley and Gateshead
Game Fishing Supplies - Morpeth
Tourist Information - Royal Quays and Whitley Bay offices
Veals Mail Order
ID Fishing - Heaton and S Shields
Billys Tackle -N Shields
St Vedas Hotel - Coldingham
Grieves Bookshop - Berwick
T & G Allan
Amazon and most internet book sites

Hope I haven\'t missed anyone. If all else fails contact me direct. Thanks again for everyone\'s support. I\'ll try to pay some of it back this summer with as much advice as possible.

EXCELLENT READ! Read it in two nights and will be using it as a reference for future trips up that neck of the woods, The last couple of pages summed up exactly what i love about angling, trying to explain this to an FPO took longer than actually reading the book! Any plans for another?

What an excellent idea Jamie. Come on David you must have loads of spare time now and as you said there are loads more marks that are not in the book. \"Son of The Codling Crouch\" or \"Codling Crouch just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water\" lmao.

Standing in the corner facing the wall now mate lol.

Jim.

Actually lying in the garden facing the sun lol. Thanks but at the minute no thanks.........although after the week I\'ve had at work working on your own has its attractions

Just bought it yesterday. Never new Tynemouth Beach could have so much fishing character!!

Reminds me of fishing with my Grandad when I was a lad.

Regards

Stu

superb read

superb read

just got my copy and i cannot put it down. each mark is well documented and the photo's are excellent. when david talks about when he was young and walked along tynemouth sands with his ganny and also went with to buy fish at the fish quay tom sell door to door, its just shows us that there is a hell of a decline in the fish being caught now adays.
this book is also full of info for the novice and young sea angler you can learn alot from this book without realising. an excellent read and full of info for marks you've never fished.

Just bought a copy today from Frazers in Whitley...however I'm giving it to Santa to put in my stocking so I won't be opening it until Christmas Day :)

I look forward to it ;):D

FAO Wallsendo, read the one you have and tell santa you want another one to keep in the bathroom for when your in the the bath or on the netty! Ive read it cover to cover and cant wait to use it as a map again next summer.
P.s just keep topping up the hot water!

Got it, read it - thoroughly enjoyed it :)

A great insight into the area and very informative - going to have to spend a few hours up there in the summer I reckon...sorry David more "townies" LOL :D

Look forward to meeting you at the N v S :)

STORES: Just finished my copy (funny enough I kept it by the bog and thanks to the curries I managed to finish the book quickly) and only wish I knew where to go when I worked at Torness 22 yrs ago and rented a flat in Eyemouth. I did take my gear with me but kept blanking so gave up. The only place I caught fish was the beach to the right of Torness which was rife for coalies.

Thoroughly enjoyed the book, recognised place names and look forward to some summer days out. Cheers.

Fozz, I would imagine you are one of the majority who first read the book in similar situ. Hope most copies find their way to the rock ends. Thanks for the kind words.
