I think the 125g record was done in a cross wind, I know I did my last 290+ in a cross wind but I can't remember if it set a new record?

If I'm going to do it now, it will have to be in Iceland.

westward is just off the a30 no mountains down here

davidstowe most of the 300+ casts were done casting up a incline from the same place mr watson got his pb i believe 290 somthing

davidstowe is near the highest point in cornwall and very open which ive heard there going to build a wind farm there

but like anywhere you need to be casting well enough to take advantage of the conditions

or be in the right place at the right time

The new field being used by the SSA has real potential for a 300 yarder, very similar to Cowbridge, Wales; top of a hill, clear behind and a fairly steep drop. Only trouble is to get the most from it you need a northerly and we don't see many of them, prevailing wind is normaly a SW. The casting day we had there last week opened my eyes a bit, very little wind (but it was a northerly) and every chuck was going high 60's or low 70's, did the wind pick up as promissed; did it f**k!

would these" top of a hill" venues be advantageous because of altitude .nwsa and nesa venues are less than 5m above sea level and both have long court records

I can remember peter thain doing 295+ in a cross wind it was blowing from the left to the right across the court at the north west , if i could do that with the wind behind me I would be over the moon
P.s Merry christmas peter send me your e-mail

lookin at this post , amazed to see my name mentioned at davidstowe, only went there once and boy was it a long drive, me and ade was knackered , and jesus theres some WEIRD people livin in cornwall.
anyway as for davidstowe wot a weird place to cast, lumps and bumps onthe oche, anybody with a step in there cast was knackered,i had a step in my cast ,i cast crap but still did 294 i think. never seen a reel empty so fast, the line went 50yds past lead then back to it. think if the oche had been flat then who knows,i honestly felt 320+ was possible. on the day me and andy green had 294 and barry painter had 306 outstanding, well done barry, but his cast had no step and he used to cast very high.:D:D

Martin,

It's old timers like yourself who where there back in old days, who can help us young'uns out with the historical past.

There is no substitute for a real life living witness.

I to have cast at Davidstowe and found it to be mental torture - a good oche is paramount for long distances.

;)
