whats the most important thing about catching fish ie line ,reel etc

In general i would say the bait and how it is presented,of couse knowledge and experience lets you know where to put the bait but if you are just talking hardware..........

for me these days it seams to be location and weather related..youll only catc h , whats in front of you..get the above right and you will catch fish.

pete

i woul say being able to get the fish in safely and retunrning it the same way if not sized, but as mentioned above these ar equally important

cheers
mark :D

i would say 90% is the bait then location and rigs how many times have you stood next to someone who has a bag full of fish and you are fishless ? it is all down to bait ! black lug ,whiteworm my fav

alright pete.its got to be the place hasnt it,which is everywhere but where ive fished lately.some matches ive been all over a mark and then you can just land on the fish.skis right about bait as well but if theres no fish in front of you it doesnt matter what bait youre using does it.

hi pete good to see you back can i change the topic a little instead of catching fish as you are the expert on this what about sheep godd to see you about again john

Got me puzzled this. I would have always said quality bait was the first thing. however I fished a match down in Portsmouth in November. About 160 fished. The second day one zone completely blanked. My zone only 2 fish (not one was mine). Another zone only did better because untimely mackerel turned up.

After we were told the venue and times then local experts including the match referee Ian Golds said the venue was being fished on the wrong tide at the wrong time of day.

Some of the lads had a chat with Ian Golds durimg the bday and he said had he been consulted then fishing would have been done in the river. He stated that even with inexperienced anglers 60% of people would have caught.

I would therefore say venue (through experience or sound advice) coupled with decent bait and tactics is important.

I think the most important thing is to make sure I\'m not there. Nobody standing anywhere near me has caught a fish for weeks :casstet:

Got to be right time, right place, right bait presented correctly. Luck comes in it sometimes, but as Gary Player said, the more I practice, the luckier I get.

Catchin the bloody things is the important bit. It does,nt matter how you do it. Cant remember the last time I caught a decent cod.
