gordon a tip for ya if ya want put where ya fish on a web site ok, but its not a good idea to put on where ya get your bait from because the next time you go for bait there might be nothing left. jamcod,

Hiya all could anybody please tell me if there are still clam at powfoot heard rumours that they have a been killed off was due to go for some this weekend dunno wot to do now

got to agree with Jamcod on this one though - i get over the West for bait and to be honest didnt even think about powfoot - it is only about an hour away - so might log it for next big tide

I suppose in a ideal world that would be great,only take what we require,it wont happen as theres professional bait diggers/collectors as well who make a living out of bait collecting and theres the ones that take a whole bucket of bait knowing fine well they wont use it,people need educating but that wont happen either,not alot we can do about it mate.
As for catch reports in Scotland or Sunderland or anywhere else,whats your point :exclam: The idea of this web site and forum is to help fellow anglers,if you dont want people to know where the fish are then dont bother posting a report.

S/Land if you were to dig a beach and on every fork full you were to find a 10 pence piece when would be enough for you to stop digging £50 - £70 - £100 - bearing in mind that when you come back it could have been ploated by other bait diggers also wanting them 10 pence pieces - i will be interested to here when you would stop digging if it were coins and not worms.

when i collect my own bait its for me and not for sale ,so i have a mental note of how many crab i need , if i can get my quota in two tides Brilliant - but if i need to do 4 or 5 trips ,so be it ,but i dont and never had gone back for any more than i see fit for usein a winter season.

powfoot or any where else its not greed keeping the mark to your self if you have a good bait mark good luck to ya i have a few bait marks myself and when i wont tell any one its not personal its just part of fishing ( note how many shops will be selling clam next year) jamcod.

i used to dig the beach until about 5 years ago untill the police told us to get off the beach and dont come back. it was something to do with shop diggers digging the beach and upsetting the people who live there.

there has been a lot of comercial diggers comming up here and wrecking the crab spots and just leaving the beaches like a mine field, there has also been fighting between diggers and local anglers.

like so may other things in life its a case of the greed of the few spoiling it for the many. I\'ve had the odd bit of hassle over the years from so called \'professionals\', with their \"this is my patch\" malarkey, which is a laugh really, remember asking one if this what he did for a living is it safe to assume he declares his income to the dole/revenue, for some strange reason he got quite irate at this question.

if I need bait, and I\'m at a beach where there are no legal restrictions, I\'ll dig/collect bait. End Of.

If you ever saw one of these \'professionals\' fishing and told him sorry you can\'t fish here cos all the fish in this bit of sea are mine, I\'m sure they\'d understand and quietly move on elsewhere - not!

If all else fails, if you\'re hassled when digging, I find the application of a Garden fork to the throat of the offending 3rd party, is a great way of clarifying the situation with any head the balls that believe they have a devine right to take anything they want.

I did tell one once that I worked for DEFRA and we were taking samples as there had been reports of a massive decline in crucial parts of the food chain in this area, and could I have his name and address, and see his licence. Daft get said he\'d left it home and legged it!

that said, it is nearly an 800 mile round trip to where I get nearly all of my bait!

i dont mind helping other anglers out if they are stuck for bait, but to give info to diggers to go and sell the bait........ i think NOT.
