Anyone been out

We managed to get out off Hartlepool.
But I only managed a couple of whiteys all day ;)
Spoke to a few others and they had much the same, so that made me feel a little better :D

Now someone will be posting that they have been heaving them in all day off Hartlepool

Do you try the wrecks or just the open ground? Think the ne winds might have coloured the water. Last year we caught cod on pirks and unbaited lures right upto Feb.
Not been out this year like but every year is different.

Had to work today.

Spent yesterday installing new fishfinder. As this basically involved dismantling the boat and reassembling it around the new \'finder, didn\'t get out. Looked flat enough, but mighty cold. Nice to hear Coddy got out though.

Alright Phil

What type of fishing do you do this time of year? i.e uptide, down tide, wrecking, open ground or rough ground...lol sorry for all the questions just interested.

just been reading your posts lads it seems like you have problems getting out reguarly is there reasons for this ,its not very often we get blown off down here in the bristol channel (the welsh side) been out today we had 10 cod on our boat biggest being 11lb 8oz,s and we welsh are notorious for gloating LOL cheers lads ,ponty

Today we tried uptideing, downtideing, pirks, lures, bait, baited lures, leadheads, achored up and drifting. Could only get hold of some lug and squid baitwise.

Fished mainly rough ground but tried a couple of 5 mile wrecks.
To be honest I have\'nt had any luck with the wrecks off Hartlepool yet.
I have\'nt had the gps/plotter long tho and still learning to ge the drifts right, I\'ve got plenty to learn.
I could do with a better fish finder for locating the wrecks (my excuse anyway).
The links on this site have been good info explaining finding and fishing the wrecks.

Their was laods of boats out fshing off Hartlepool today but all that I spoke to had similar reports.

Bet you can\'t wait to try the new finder out Phil :D , what have you been gettin.

went out sunday got about 15 whiteys all under size 2 coddling 1 at three pound the other went back to fight another day 1 coley and a massive eater crab. tried drifting first but nothing so anchored up for the rest of the day all fish including crabby got caught on squid nothing on worm. as codfather said there was alot of boats out. nice to see you out again codfather. ;)

Hi Coddy. Got a Raymarine DS600x with a proper in-hull transducer. You fix a collar (looks like a bit of drainpipe) to the hull with silicone ( the recommended adhesive, which is interesting when you look at some of our threads on fishfinders), which you then fill with liquid (oil or glycol) before slotting the transducer into it. Was a bit frustrated last week as the transducer cable didn\'t fit the finder, but they sent me an adaptor cable which has sorted that out. Haven\'t actually tried it yet as I\'m letting the silicone cure , but everything is ready to go next time.

I recommend http://www.raydirect.co.uk/ as they were very helpful, even when it turned out they\'d forgotten the adaptor.

Ling Basher- I haven\'t been at this long enough to have developed winter techniques yet, but NESA willbe the first to know if I catch anything!

Phil, looking ahead somewhat but when we get to the summer I think we ought to do a bit touring, Hartlepool is well within distance (just ask Bob), so we`ll come down for a weekend and you can point out the marks and then you come up and stop at Royal Quays and we`ll show you around ..... LOL looking forward to it already.

Looks like a nice bit of kit that Phil, I may awell just tie off on to the back of your boat next time your out on the wreck\'s :D

Was that you I waved at by the yacht club on Sunday morning cod69,
I recon theirs some big COD waiting for us next time were out. ;)
Heard theirs been a few bass caught by the twin steps recently, that would make nice a change to the catch.

It wont take you long Phil, with the gps systems our days it maks it so easy in finding fishing marks, trick is setting up the drift and so on.

Look forward to seeing your catch reports when the weather lets everyone get out.

your not wrong norman, it only takes 2.5 hours marina to marina taking it easy, hartlepool has some great bars and resturants at the marina, i have said for a few years we should all make a weekend of it
