Tidecutter

Hi Dave, Have been using Tidecutters for over a year now and have never had any problems with them. Use a 50lb class coupled with a Penn 245LD reel in the Firth of Lorne to haul up a skate of 175ld last year. Great rods and reels. The lighter rods are even better.

Hi Mike , thats what I heard . I\'m looking for one for 10oz plus leadhead work . Don\'t know whether to get the 12-20lb or the 20-30lb ????

Dave, Depends what your going after. If your going wrecking for big cod use a 20-30, but if your going for smaller stuff over hard ground I,d use a 12-20. But then again why not spoil your self and get both. I was lucky, I got all three as freebee from Penn.

dave,

i was in florida a few weeks back and watched ian burrett catch a 27lb amberjack on the 12-20lb class, we thought he had done well, next drop he hooked one and it spooled him, the first one was just a baby, apparently this wreck spits up regular 70lb jacks, bit like a coalfish on speed and steroids, big angry fish, i hooked 2 on 30-80lb class stand up gear (skate tackle), you couldn\'t pull line off my reel by hand, these things ripped 50-60 yards off and found the wreck..

unfortunatly not many amberjack on the wrecks off dunbar :(

Thanks lads :) I need to give it more thought or get both of them!! . We had about 5/6 occassions last year we hooked in with 30lb tackle and could not stop them diving at any price . What they were we dont know , love to find out .Them amberjacks sound good though Les :o
