UNDERSIZED FISH:RIGHTOR WRONG?

i\'ve been a nesa member for a few year now and usually found the message board quite busy till recently, probably due the time of the year, in between seasons etc, quiet on the fishing front = quiet on the board i suppose. its good to know everyones still out there. perhaps someone else should start a controversial thread, as tony says it can only be good for the board as long as everyone carries out the debate in a dignified manner even if they vehemently disagree with someone. i for one enjoy a \"ding dong\" debate !
so come on someone, be contraversial !!!!

Micky, to be honest, I\'ve not really noticed the Board being \"quiet\" of late. That may be down to being involved with the RNLI Comp and neglecting the rest of the Board a bit. If that\'s the case then I apologise.

On the other hand, maybe you\'re right about the \"between seasons\" theory.....I know this has affected the Board activity in the past.

Lol, Micky.....\"so come on someone, be contraversial !!!!\"

Well....yes AND no, Mark.

Hipgnosis was formed by Storm Thorgerson and Peter Curzon and they did design the earlier PF stuff.
After the design company split, Thorgerson carried on working with PF aswell as many others. Led Zeppelin, Alan Parsons Project, The Cranberries, Paul Young (NOT the actor-come-angler), to name a few.

I suppose 2 of his best known images are from PF album covers;

1. The prism on the Dark Side of the Moon album
2. The \"burning\" man handshake on the Wish You Were Here album (did you know that the man WAS actually burning !!)

Well..............you did ask......... :exclam: :P

Storm Thorgerson........my hero in graphic design and visual art.

Check out his website at;

Storm Thirgerson is still at it and designed the last (non roger waters) floyd albums as well, which were in my sad old hippy opinion the best since wish you were, however what this ha sto do with undersized fish, I\'m not sure!

or then again....

a saucerful of secrets - where the boaty boys go but won\'t tell any one
Meddle - well that would me stirring things up
the divsion bell - earlier post on this thread
momentary lapse of reason - well, I suppose we could look to Ell in that department
The Wall - for the hendon afficionados
Dark side of the moon - as likely as TC ever fishing north of the river
Animals - pigs liver for bait (need to think abotu that one)
.....

ok time for bed

Oi...cheeky sod......I HAVE fished the dark lands of Tynemouth, Whitley Bay AND Cullercoats, I\'ll have you know......lol

Mind you...........got nowt there, either.....lol :casstet: :casstet:

Forgot to add....
Bring the Boys Back Home would be a canny anthem for Bert ;)

Anyway............yes, sorry for the slight de-railment of this topic.
Looking forward to it getting back on track, again...............

It is wrong to take undersized fish and ilegal. There are plenty of pike baits in tackle shops fresh water and sea baits, most of the fresh water baits are farm bred for the pupose and have a bill of health from defra. Most lakes /lochs do not know this but farmed fish need a certificate to be moved from the water they are bred in to new waters, defra test the water and check fish stocks for contamation

you can transport dead fresh water baits without permission but not livebaits. you can only transport freshwater livebait with a section 30 certificate from the ea. however a lot of waters now ban the use of all freshwater deads and lives even if you do have a section 30 certificate. the situation is quite silly in the lake district at the present time since they wont even allow you to use the fresh water baits caught from the water you are actually fishing.(and the only reason the ban was imposed was to stop the translocation of species between waters) i find sea deads more effective most times any way, plus you know theres no chance of spreading disease. unfortunately pikers in the past have been their own worst enemies and although to the best of my knowlege have never been found guilty of introducing a disease to a water they have certainly introduced many alien spieces to certain waters, sometimes this has benefitted angling but the introduction of fish such as the ruffe which eat fish eggs is detrimental.

This is what i like about NESA - you can go from undersized fish to the artwork on pink floyd covers to undersize fish in an instant. I think this is how the european union have worked out fish quotas in the past. :P

Now theres a man destined for a career in politics :-)

I think the threat that undersized artwork poses is an issue to be wrestled with as well. I\'m sure NESA will take a suitably robust stand on the issue ;)

As for mentioning Pink Floyd and The Alan Partridge Project on a sea angling site, shame on you!

absolutely, have you tried to skin up using a cd cover?

and you can accomodate lots of toot on an album cover at the same time

Lol, Ell......\"The Alan Partridge Project \"

Been a big fan of the Alan PARSONS Project since the 70\'s.

A good few years ago at work, we had a scheme called the \"Reyrolle Parsons Project\" - the title cracked me up and I spent ages in HMV looking for the Album...lol

Tony \"The Alan Parsnip\" Project was very big down the allotments in Birtley.

Sorry to be a boring fart, but to get back to the original post.If any of you have ever been on a charter you wil see literally 100\'s of undersize fish being kept on the pretext of\"I\'m paying for this so I\'m keeping everything\" or\" It\'ll do for fishcakes or the cat or the mother in laws beaver\".In reality unless the shores and boats are policed it will not stop.

Tat I\'ve never seen that happen myself. If it does then it is truly shocking. IMO Boat fishing is much more productive than shore angling and I think as a result boat anglers are very conscious of size species etc. They can afford to put fish back! That\'s what i\'ve observed. Maybe I\'ve been lucky. anyone else witnessed this type of behaviour?
