Hi people this is my first of many i hope post, i need help with my slosh30 not sure if i have filled it up with to much line or what but every time i use it i end up birds nesting the bugger!!. I have tightend the brakes as tight as possible which has reduced my casting by a lot but am a stubin person (get that from me dad) and want to master it. So any help or advice will be very very welcom.

Much thanks and tight lines

By the sounds of it, what you think is the "brakes" is actully the end spool float. This adjusts the amount of side to side play in the spool, you should have it set so there is just the slightest amount of side to side movement.

Too slow the reel down you need to fit brake blocks to the reel, i would use 2 red blocks to start with and if this is too slow remove one. To fit them remove the left side plate and slide them onto the two metal holders.

If you already have brake blocks fitted you could also use a thicker oil in the bearings such as red rocket fuel.

Thanks for the advice lads, just cracked her open and there is no brake blocks in so ill be popping to the shop to get some in.. One other question is that knob i have been turning thats not the brakes?? and whats the best way to set it up?? sorry for all the questions.

The knob you have been twiddling (ooh er missus) is the one that adjusts how loose your spool is within the frame. Get those brake blocks in an you will be flying. I only have one block in mine but im well used to it by now. If your not used to multis then stick a couple of big ones in and just get used to the multi for casting.

I use the SL20 and find it a much easier reel to cast with aswell...

I don’t think you can adjust the breaks in the s3losh. they are the centrifugal ones. faster the spool turns the more pressure they apply. I may be wrong.

There is various alternates, you can get magnets fitted to s3loshes or take one break block out to help aide on the distance front.

Check out a website called blackdogtackle they do the mag conversion kits. Only problem is you lose the ratchet capability.

Someone correct me if im wrong, Dont want to give this dude some incorrect advice.

As anyone had this conversion fitted & is it worth doing, checkedout above web site & there 16.45.

Ive only ever had one birdsnest with mine and can bang a bait a decent distance.... maybe try thumbing the spool a bit more when casting untill you find out how much pressure you can get away with on your spool. :D

Used the slosh last night with the brake blocks in and it's fantastic!!! Thanks for the advise lads..

if ya get stuck with the brakes or bearings m8 pm me i,ll strip the reel for ya (free of charge) as thats all i use. i can strip them reels faster than i can strip my lass
