Went out last night mainly to get fresh air. Started at Tynemouth 4pm packed up at 5pm
as sea too rough, went to Middle Toilets, stayed 2hrs caught a fish ?? about 6ozs but conditions not good there so packed up and moved to Pipe where sea a bit calmer. stayed until midnight no bites, bait coming back untouched. Other guys there also not catching. Used rag, mussel, razorfish and even a sardine. Was going to go out tonight but conditions don't look good, so hopefully someone will prove me wrong. New chest waders were great I was warm and dry all night so thats a bonus.

Gerry, I always found Lugworm the best bait for Blyth beach, you will probably catch with the other baits but not as consistantly as with Lug. After a good blow it sometimes works tipping with Razorfish very well, but my first couple of casts I always use just Lug.

cheers I,ll try that next time. as said at least I didn,t blank but would like my fish a bit bigger.

Good luck Gerry. I would still take some Ragworm with you as it goes well with the Lugworm and also gives you a better chance of a Bass. keep trying all of your baits in different combo's too, what works one time is not guarranteed to work the next time or even the next night as I have found.

Cheers. I think it just wasn't a good night either, there were 5 others fishing , 3 who had gone to Charleys Garden caught nothing so moved to a mark about 200yds to the right of pipe. They were staying to fish the flood. A guy I met there reckoned he fished the pipe a lot said the area around the pipe had changed over the last 3 weeks with rocks and holes appearing/disapearing almost on a daily basis. as I've read many times on other threads it pays to have a recce first.

Yes, it really does help to have a look before you go Gerry. It's not often that the rocks get uncovered by the pipe, I was bragging one night that I had never lost gear on Blyth beach :casstet::casstet: First cast I hooked a fish and couldn't believe it when I was snagged :D :D I never stood a chance of getting it free with 18 lb line so lost it. It wasn't too bad though as I got another one on the very next cast and a couple more to weigh in too. It just shows though you should never be too cocky lol.

I don't know what the beach is like at the Sluice end of the beach, but there are usually some great holes to fish into down that way. Sometimes just a tiny flick with the rod will do. Have a look down there at low water up to the Astley arms and mark yourself a spot for high water. It is far too long since I was last there I think.

I meant to say, if you forget to put your welly's on and you get stuck on one of the sandbars down that way you can sometimes get a piggy back through the water :D :D

Canny cast, now, just wait for the bite. I know your looking :D :D

Jim.

:(Gerry I fished there fairly regular, haven't had much luck, its defo changed since we've been getting these big seas, l/t recce defo required m8!
