Bits started to fall off my new rod after 2 fishing trips.

Dear Mrs. Granton,

Please follow the instructions below when returning the broken section -

1 Place some tape around the initial fault and cut the broken section only into 4" pieces and return in a padded envelope.

2 Enclose full name and address details - including daytime telephone number.

3 Enclose full details of the rod - model, length, line rating & sections (2, 3 or 4piece)

4 Enclose a covering letter explaining how the rod broke and we will examine the fault. If we think it is not a manufactoring defect the £30 handling charge will apply.

5. Please send to address below.

Kind regards

I rang them and they said about 2 weeks to get this sorted and if they think it's my fault then I will get the broken pieces back.

Good eh

So the shop I bought the rod off Neast Tackle and Supplies said he would repair the rod for £3 but this then invalidates the "LIFE TIME GUARANTEE"

Good stuff eh.

DON'T BUY THEIR RODS in my opinion

If your rod breaks within the first year (actually, it might even be longer, but definitely within the first year), it's the shop's responsibility to sort out a replacement, not the company who made the rod.

And unless you broke it yourself, they certainly shouldn't be charging you to fix it, otherwise you might as well have bought it from a car booter!

i dont think it is the shops responsibility of the shop for fishing rods, i had a very expensive abu suveron pro boat rod snap just below the 4th ring, spoken to abu and they said send the rod back but because i was going fishing again soon after the snap my friend in the tackle shop did me a favour and forwarded it to the manufacturer and replaced it.

i think some stores do take the rod but will then deal with the manufacturer on the behalf of the customer as they can have postage agreements with their suppliers.

greys will replace the rod if it has been snapped in normal use, if it has been snapped by standing on it etc i understand they wont.

if the eyes are falling off its greys mistake the whip mustnt of been hit hard enough when the man or juvenile (slave) made it at the time

I'm guessing it's the eye linings falling out ? If so it's definitely a manufacturing fault and you will get a replacement rod or your money back or whatever . I have to say I like Hardy/greys rods and reels , I have a lot of Hardy fly rods and reels , they are brilliant . I've taken them up on their lifetime guarantee on a couple of occasions too , it's well worth having in my opinion. I'm sure they will sort you out Ankle biter ;)

I had a boat rod from them half price so no guarantee ex display. after 2 seasons the end ring came away. popped into the shop to buy a replacement ring and ended up getting, not the original ring, put on free.

Mind you I live in Alnwick and had to pop in 3 times due to the 1st ring they gave me free was slightly to small. So this could have had an influance.
I agree though it is a bit of a con the lifetime guarantee unless your paying £500+ for some of there rods.
Can't see putting a new ring on yourself invalidating the guarantee though if out went wrong again and you had to send it in, break that ring of as well........

i would have just paid the 3 quid to have it fixed there and then, could'nt have been bothered with all the hassle and time wasted trying to persue it
