  • SL30SHA / Saltist 30 wanted (SL30SH latestest version)

Anyone selling a DAIWA SL30SHA ??? (latest gold spool slosh) or Saltist 30??

Not interestest in original or SHV versions.... condition not that important as long as no corrosion and runs fine (no bags of hammers!)

Would consider mono magged versions as well....

    PM me

Agreed shv / sha both have the speed shafts but sit high on the rod due to the gear box, which some people dont like they are good casting and very good reels i use them, if you read what the boys down the country say about them who are catching conger, tope and thornbacks they say they would only change to a saltist to keep up with the jones.

I still wouldnt mind a saltist 30 as these sit on the rod lower cast the same if not better when tuned / magged but that will have to wait till the start of next winter season.

Geordie..... johnw had one for sale back at the end of feb wanted £100 or nearest offer and was listed as mint ?

The weak point on the SHA's is the shaft. I've got 4 of them, had relatively light use so far and already had to replace one bent shaft. They're tooled far too thin just above where they fit into the brass bush in the sideplate (not a bearing like the regular slosh) - the bush can wear pretty quickly and when it does the thin part of the shaft just keels over. I plan on replacing the bushes in mine with bearings to see if this will reduce the chances of this happening & give them some hammer up the coast in the real heavy stuff this summer - we'll see what happens. Otherwise pretty good, but as pointed out above sit fairly high off the rod.

Must admit I think the saltists are much better balanced & don't lock up like the sloshes when you've got a decent fish on either, you can just keep winding away. They're usually first choice for me these days.

Hope you get sorted anyway mate - don't want to hijack your thread with a debate on reel's pros & cons!
