I have for sale my Conoflex Anubis 14' rod rated up to 6oz (will easily cast up to 7oz with a bait). I have had this rod for a year now and just find I don't use it enough. It is perfect for the rocks/rough ground and was in fact designed for our region as you can read below;
The Cono-flex Anubis range of rods were the inspiration of Alec Harvey and Bob Gascoigne, two of the top Geordies on the North-east angling circuit. These two lads felt there was a demand for a new Cono-flex beach caster, specifically for their area and offered their services for design and testing.
The qualities required of this rod were straight forward;
This rod needed to be powerful to cast big baits good distances, but not break your back whilst doing so.
It needed to show good bite indication, but not fold up as “guts” are an important factor for when retrieving through rocks and kelp, characteristics of the rugged North-east beaches.
Also a light, well balanced rod that was not going to be cumbersome causing you to lose your footing on the rocks.
Finally as longer rods are of the modern trend these days it needed to be 14 ft in length.
The Anubis 6 oz is a fishing rod with a more forgiving action, the tip pulls through more, locking up slowly into the stiff slim butt. Great bite detection, it casts a dream. A very competent rock rod.
Top Wearside angler Jim Dobie gives this one the ‘big thumbs up’
It is the latest model and is factory built with the old (and best!) Fuji BNHG rings whipped in dark blue throughout. It has a UK hooks moveable fuji real seat with coaster. I have put blue mighty bright tip tape over breakaway high viz tape on the tip to make it really light up at night! It also matches the colour scheme great.
I have also put Karakal grips just above both sides of the spigot to aid in taking it apart when cold and to protect the blank when in the rod rest. It also has a grip above the reel seat to allow comfort when holding the rod as well as at the very bottom of the butt to allow you to keep grip when casting when your hands may be wet. The butt is covered in black Japanese shrink (doubled by the bottom for extra protection.)
The honest bit; The rod is in fantastic condition however there are some marks in the high build over the graphic stretching up to the first eye. This has come from rubbing when I have been carrying it strapped to the tripod. All the rings are in perfect condition and the whippings are
This really is a great rod and is ready to fish with. It has been looked after well and washed down in warm water after every use and oiled before storing. They cost £473 new and I am asking £210 for it. This is a bargain for someone. Any questions or to arrange to see it drop me a PM. Open to sensible offers.
