  • Australia - Victorian Casting Results

Well we had a good day with some impresive casts being put down field both attached and those that decided to go solo.

Those that stated attached are as follows:

    Lee Andrews:

150 Gram 0.31 mm 249.4 meters PB in comp.
    125 gram 0.28 mm 228.95 meters

    Jeremy Schrader:

    150 gram 0.31 mm 218.7 meters
    100 gram 0.25 mm 207.5 meters

    Mark Johnston :

    125 gram 0.28 mm 217.3 meters
    150 gram 0.31 mm 213.6 meters
    175 gram 0.35 mm 204.8 meters

A very consistent result and once again we middle order combatants enjoyed the fight.

    Zak Roydhouse

    150 gram 0.35 mm 177.33
A great result due to casting with an injured shoulder from other sporting activities.

Turn out was not good and it is disapointing to see no new faces wanting to learn how to improve their distance, but there is always next time.

Hope to hear from the NSW and W.A guys who were able to have a hit out ?

    Regards
    Jeremy

      Alan ,

I have been tied up a fare bit with work due to increased responsibilities etc. it really interupts the availability of my fishing and casting time.

Also being practicing a lot with the New Zziplex XTR 50/50 that we got from over your side of the world. It has improved the consistency of the distances that I am achieveing and things should start to show further improvement in the comming months.

Looking forward to posting some better distances in the next few comps.

      Regards

The Yarra doesn\'t fish to bad , here is a picture of a small Jewfish or Mulloway that I took last year.

I will be starting after them again at the end of this month. I lost a number that would have gone 20+kg and hope to land some of these bigger fish this season.

                  Jim ,

When i target the smaller fish the can be loads of fun using 20 poud braid and a light to medium spin stick, however for the larger fish we use live mullet up to 1 pound + , 24 kg line and 100 pond wind on shock leaders as we fish the baits straight down next to the piers and the larger fish come from underneath and then head straight back.

More like a great brawl and a good fight as it is over quickly whether you win or loose.

                  Loads of fun .

                        Jim ,

We are spoilt over here and its not to difficult to catch fish in the 1 to 2 pound range if you organise fresh bait or now how to target them on lures.

At the moment I an a little crook with swollen glands and unable to go fishing under pain of death from the other half.
Once I have some more results and pictures I will post them in the shorefishing section.

                        Regards
                        Jeremy
