    hi all
well this looks like the place to post this one
i have been fishing for many years and now i have started my partner fishing and was wondering on what your advice would be on where to mount the reel as i fish reel down so i have got my partner a diawa stx 12 foot shore rod which is light enough for her to handle
also my partner has a lower spine injury so whats the best way to learn her to cast and does anyone know any casting instructors near leeds
as i would also like some lessons i currently use either a long beach or blue thunder with either an 7ht or a large abu

any advice would be most welcome

    thanks in advance

The next NWSA event will be on the 6th November on the back field. Please check this page for any possible cancellation.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

North Western Surfcasting Association was formed in 1992. We are one of the largest clubs, dedicated to Casting, in the UK. Our membership comes from a large part of the North of England and with the help of our North East friends the standard of casting is very high.

We have eight or nine Casting events each year starting March and ending in October or November.

Our events are run on a grouping system, casters are \"graded\" when they join the club

When you start, if you are new to the casting sport, you would start in the beginners group. This group is for people who cast anywhere up to 195yds. Once you achieve that distance or above, you would be promoted to B Group for casts between 195-225yds. When this distance has been achieved at 2 separate events you will move into A Group 225-245yds. Same again into Premier, 245yds upwards, If like some of the top casters you can then move into a voluntary group Premier Plus.

Points are awarded for overall position on the day and trophies are awarded annually for the best in each group.

We are always on the lookout for Juniors. They receive free membership and free events. Everything is free for Junior Members (except the raffle).

We always have casting instructors available at events, but any of our members will be more than happy to help you if you ask.

Our Casting Fields - we have 4 available for our use, are at Sand Villa Farm, Cockerham near Lancaster and are easy to get to from the M6, Junction 33. See Map

In 2003 the long standing Secretary - John Pirie stood down after steering this to possibly the top casting club in the UK, with the support of the membership and a big pair of Wellies to fill, Len \'Fingers\' Williams is now in charge at the NWSA.

    All visitors are always welcome.
