exactly this, multipliers reel fast and laying the line even is the most important thing , get it wrong and a birdsnest awaits. you can remove most level winds easy enough , no need for conversions etc .
Agree, line lay is important so learn to chuck a one on clean ground so you can reel in at leisure and get used to getting the line back on the spool properly before the frantic retrieve required when fishing snaggy marks. I personally would advise to avoid a level wind, beginner or not.
