I bought an early XTR and love it, although I\'m not into tournament casting, love it as a fishing rod.

      Davy ,

Thanks for the reply , what rigs do you utilise with the rod.

Currently I utilise a pulley rig that utilises a clip down for casting large baits out chasing our Snapper and Mulloway. This is with the Ron Thompson Axcellerator and my Purgalss 400/3

I would appreciate you opinion on how the rod handles the larger bait rigs as this will also give me an indication of how it would handle tournament casts with the 150 & 175 gram weights.

what sort of distances do you get with the baited rigs ?

      regards
      Jeremy

the old xtr will handle 150 and 175 leads with ease ,when the uksf team where in america they where casting 10ozs with it 7 oz leads and bait a mullet head and it handled it no trouble.the xtr is a proven tournament rod.

a zziplex xtr is one tournament rod.

a zziplex 50/50 is another zziplex rod with two equal sections.
              made in s.w. scotland.

The new XTR is in two equal sections supposed to be 13ft 8 ins , mine measures at 13ft 10 ins in equal sections.
