    rods

Yes john it really doesmatter u have a bloke trying to wind up a stiff rod getting near to the rod being locked up ready for the puch pull but the rod is too stif to get the vevom in at the end of the cast then theres the bloke who takes very little rod on and not bothered about pre compresion just the speed at the end of the cast the man who winds the rod up will do so better with a troughy medium action rod the late hitter relying on strength and speed will do better with the stiff rod then there is the o.t.g styles also to considered different kettle of fish again tony

        rods

has u say john size and srength r other matters to b took into cosideration but knowing your style u need the softer action at the beggining of your cast and i thought the sst would b the rod for u it is also trial and error your prob is u have too many rods just stick with your favorite rod and youll not go wrong has long as u give me the others horses for courses courses for horses

          rods

has for the flat pendulum witch wee called side casting in our day i prefered a 13 foot medium trough action has u need to hold a fully locked up rod longer than bringing it over the top and u need to get the better of the rod and not the rod getting the better of u a quatra john tony

what is too stiff to cast
not found a rod that dose not bend
I run 15ft rods and they bend
TT-Rs and WR300s bend from tip to butt cap
and ZZIPPYS just bend and bend.
ALL rods Bend its just if the caster has the skill to load IT.
The probs start when the man dont know his limits he goes out and buys
the biggest stiffest pole they can get there hands on but dont have the skill
              to load it.

                rods

skill facter plays a big part if u r doing well with those rods thats why nthey call u big dave has i said earlier strength is a great thing to have i can use simmilar rods in stiffnes myself but i dontgo for abig wind up no one is knocking u or the rods u use i once watched a certain person mswtoss the best thechnicall caster i have seen beuatifull powerfull wind up and the perfect finish a man mountain of massive built and strength yet he got himself a dymic bullet and his technique was that good the rod was just to stiff for him and he sold it then u had blanchy another big big hitter but he needed extremely stiff rods why u may ask watch both of them and u can see why i am not knocking garry either he is a good freind good luck tony

                  now now mr T.

HEY PORKY, r u calling me a fat c##t. lol. cheeky
do you want an end to your rod debate, the fact is you're all not good enough to use the full potential of even a soft rod, and thats not nasty just plain fact. you no ive cast nearly all rods tony and best century i ever cast was a soft butted raptor when timing is right. it was great rod espeially for 175g. peters cast 100odd yds with walk.in stick, ade done same with tent poles, we all cast between 210 -230 yds with long spade handle butt joined to a carpet pole tip. best caster in world big D, USED THE SAME TYPE RAPTOR AS MINE TO DO 271M's in 1998, and thought blanchies rods were only ever any good for putting dumbbells on either end.

                    rods

allreet chop i dont disagree with what u r saying but blanchy could stiil cast a hell of a long way with the stiffest of rods because he hit it very late and did not wind arod up fully before he finished this worked for him i personally think it is more skillfull to cast with a softer rod but i thought u were zipplex through and through trater arny kiddin m8 good luck tony
