NWSA results Sunday 18.06.06
The day started dry but it didn’t last, by ten thirty the rain came and that was with us off and on most of the day. The wind was from the South West variable 2 to 8 mph and was slightly across court. This did not halt the PB’s with Paul Clatworthy gaining some distance on his previous best and 9 yr old junior Kyle Powell moving his up to 67 yds..
Up at the other end, Peter Thain came back from an injury a few months ago to record the best on the day and almost back on form!
Chasing him was that young fellow Alan Varley who had some terrific casts on the day and left the rest of us trailing in his wake!
Newcomers R. Scullion, J Barnes and P. Booth all tried there best on a poor casting day and threatened to return. Well done lads, as most will know it’s not easy stepping up to the oche for the first time.
Some fun was had with the fly casting, Hugh Newton, Peter Thain, Howard Varley and myself had a break from the lead weights and instead, the salmon fly, the T38, the five and seven weights were cast, with the best on the day reaching 64 yds on the T38!!!
