    Help a southerner out here… How do you pronounce Redheugh?

    And for that matter, how about Derwenthaugh?

    It's "red hee yuff "mate and Derwenthoff.

    Well something like that anyway.
    You can take the lad out of Walker but .......

      Well I've always pronounced it Hee-you, all my family pronounce it that way, but I've noticed on the radio they keep pronouncing it he-youff.

        and derwenthoff.....been that way for as long as i can remember, and that a long time....blame the posh buggers on tv and radio for changing it

            strange, I never thought of these being anything else than redheeyuff and derwenthoff but I suppose when you look at it from another perspective maybe we are a bit strange in pronunciation .....

            which I suppose could open a can of worms .... how about camis (sorry cambois)
