Excellent, have to admit that I laughed (a lot). Hope she wasn't hurt though.
As Marksworld says, these oap chariots are a bloody nuisance and also dangerous. A couple of years ago an old fella ran over my foot with his chariot. He knew what he'd done but didn't even acknowledge his mistake or more to the point says sorry, he just kept on going. A hit and run!. I thought, right you owld git, so went after him. He even sped up a little when I caught him up so I started gently jogging alongside him having a bit mouth off at him. Had to stop as started to crack up laughing, he realised he couldn't go any faster and started to crouch down behind the handle bars like what the kids do on their mopeds to try to get a bit extra speed.
Nowt against the old folk getting out and about on these things but think they should be made to do a little test, bit like a cbt for mopeds/bikes.
1. Make sure they can pull away gently so as not to alarm pedestrians by lurching forwards towards them.
2. Make sure they can stop smoothly so as not to alarm pedestrians by charging towards them.
3. Steering test (couple of traffic cones and a bit straight line) to make sure they can avoid pedestrians/other chariots and big holes in the ground.

Far be it for me to stop someone's independence but some of them get on the things and think they're indestructable. Seen a bloke cross straight over the West Road opposite Newcastle General both ways, everything had to screech to a halt for him. Another bloke diagonally cutting across the lights on Station Road, Ashington.
Do they have insurance if they hit you?
