With the Cod not showing much on our Summer trip, we kept a decent sized Whiting and a Coalie. Took them out the freezer today and Lynn deep fried them in batter. Whiting was lovely, Coalie? Well it's flesh was a bit grey, but tasted OK ish. Probably wouldn't have it again though.

generally find people make fish cakes with coalie, whiting is well underrated
I think I will give the fishcakes a try Duncan, never made them before, but quite fancy trying to. Will look up a recipe.2016 - Cod, Dab, Dogfish, Gurnard, Ling, Mackerel, Saithe, Scorpian fish. .

Whiting are quite nice but as part of the cod family then you would expect it.... very under-rated. Light batter with a lemon and garlic mayo..... D E L I G H T F U L !!!!
Grey Coalie flesh... hmmmmmmm"In order to becomes old and wise, first you must be young and stupid."
