Well the little Mazda failed it's MOT miserably - cracked ABS ring(nothing worse than a cracked ring!) and a knackered gearbox bearing. Serious money that the age of the car doesn't justify. So spent the day in search of a replacement.
Now Lynn thinks small is beautiful (fortunately), so cheap, low insurance, low tax and high MPG was the order of the day. Also as we know nothing about cars, she wants the "relative security" of buying from a main dealer. Of course most dealers don't stock the price of car she was looking for, so it took us a while.
Eventually we came up with this:
A wee Fiat Panda, the legendary "1 lady owner, full service history" and a paltry 18500 miles on the clock! Best things about it is a full 3 month warranty and a full year's MOT. We also shelled out another £194 for 2 services and 2 MOT's, which I thought was pretty good. Also got £500 for the knackered Mazda, which was great!
I really hate buying things I know nothing about. Obviously we do some online research, but I wouldn't know a dog of a car if it ran me over!
Let's hope this one does the job and lasts for a few years!
PS We took along our longest rod and rod rest to make sure they fitted. What weird looks we got!!
