  • funeral pyre

i dont know if any of you lads and lasses saw or read about the first funeral pyre near stamfordham?.
what i would like to ask is do you think it is right?
crematoriums have been providing cremations for years and years now and the regulations to help with emissions have been enforced to the letter and have to be all the time or they could be shut down.
with this outside pyre taking place i can only think they have broke every regulation and rule going which surley is against the law.

    what do you think folks?

    cheers

Personaly I feel if thats the way you want to go then fair enough.
There is no reason like a crematorium, why land could not be be set aside for this purpose.
As long as the body and land is prepared in advance to the burning emmisions need not be a problem.
Is it not a big thing in India?.
I\'m sure it would take off it it was allowed, there are a few religions that would rather use a pyre than a crematorium.

How many on here would opt for a longboat viking funeral

Yep, I read about it, Mark and was waiting for a comment to appear on the Board. Thought the story was past its sell by date now.

Yes, as the law currently stands, it was illegal - no question about it.

However, personally I don\'t see what the fuss was about.

Quite fancy being pushed out to sea on a burning raft meself (obviously I\'d prefer me demise to have taken place first).

Lol - do I detect a vested interest here, Mark

bid odd the law that says that it was illegal, yet if you want to, its ok to bury your granny at the bottom of the garden (as long as it doesn\'t interfere with the water table and you record the location)

doesn\'t bother me either way really, damn site cheaper than the crem\' though

when I go, chope me into little bits, put me through a mincer then use me for chumming for big fish!

well that can be done without any trouble lol.
tony i do have an intrest in it as we have to abide by every little rule going, paperwork, signatures, even down to what materials are used and what type of clothing the deceased can wear. if any of the rules were broken we could and probably would be hauled up in front of a court.
what made me laugh was the police giving concent without checking with the home office then after it took place saying that they thought it was against the law.

Is it not a big thing in India?.
yes i agree but we are not in india we are in england.
