I\'m sure he\'s stepped down before as chairman, then re-appeared after a successful season on the pitch, not sure tho????

I hope this isn\'t a damage limitation stunt because the takeover is failing, It doesn\'t matter if he calls himself the new tea lady if he\'s still got the majority share in the club, he\'ll be pulling the strings.

Not trying to be a doom merchant, but as a Sunderland supporter for a fair few years I\'m used to being promised the earth only to be kicked in the teeth.

If he\'s still at the club come August I want my £487 back.
    Cheers, Keith.

You\'re right kieth he did step down once before i think it was after we got relegated under peter ried then he slowly worked his way back in and people did\'nt notice cos we had a good season but all the time he was pulling the strings john fickling was just a puppet keeping his seat warm i realy hope this is\'nt another false dawn murray was on the news the other week saying how bad the sales were for season tickets it would\'nt suprise me if todays anouncement was just a publicity stunt to boost season ticket sales i gave my season ticket up 4 years ago and i will never get another one until murray sells his majority shares in the club

funny how the skunks buyout appears on the same day as quinny is supposed to have dropped out!!! coincidence i think not!!! its nice to see that the bloke from the stock exchange said that the yanks who are interested in n*****tle are quote\" a bunch of hard nosed merchant bankers\" funny ive always thought they were bankers as well . he went on to say that they are totally profit motivated and will have no interest in football, bit like doug and fred.

He obviously has high regard for the club and fans but he\'ll want a return for his money,if indeed he is putting his hand in his own pocket and he\'s not just being used as a figurehead by other people behind the scenes
                        Cheers Alan...

Agree with both Jim and Alan.

Quinny will have had to sell that club 8 times over (once for every backer) and he couldn\'t have done that without some feeling and understanding for the club.

His backers will be in it for the money, but these people (if they are who they believed to be) don\'t take fools lightly, and wouldn\'t have come anywhere near the takeover unless they thought that the takeover would be a profitable success.

Personally, if and when this happens, I think it could be the start of one the most exciting times in the clubs history.

Totally agree Davy, I just wish they\'d bloody hurry up, it\'s doing my heed in waiting and reading all the rumours on the RTG forums.

Bob\'s on a hiding to nothing if he doesn\'t sell now, the club would be worthless with him in charge for another season, so he\'s got to accept.
Maybe the consortium know that and are trying to get his price down.

Bit worried about the way the odds for Alex McCleish as next manager are falling rapidly.
