  • England Manager

As not being a football fanatic i would like to ask the Q, should a countires manager not come from the country he is in charge of. Surely this would reflect the true status of the countries football. What is the point in having a team full of home grown footballers and then being coached by a foreigner who coaches them the way his narural countries players would play. The supposed new coach of England is Brasilian, is he going to try and coach the english donkeys in the way he coached the brazilians and Portugese who have a natural falir for football. I bit like the England rugby team being coached to play with the flair of France. If you are having a foreign manager then you may as well have foreign players. I say to get the true standing of English football, English players with a English manager.

couldn\'t agree more. especially when the english managers in the frame want an damn site less money than the 5million a year scolari is reported to be wanting

I\'m all for an English Manager, but given the choice of Big Phil or McLaren, Big Phil wins hands down.

The only true candidate in my eyes was big Sam. It\'s sad that there are no outstanding candidates, but you could lay the blame at clubs who employ foreign coaches (Arsenal and Chelsea for example).

Time will tell how Stuart Pearce develops, and I\'d also like to see how Big Sam develops with some money behind him.

One of the good things about Scolari is he\'s not interested in superstars (see Luis Figo at the last Euro champs). He even told Ronaldo he wouldn\'t play for Brazil unless he lost weight.

To me, one of the first things he should do, and I believe he\'ll win a lot of supporters by doing this, is give the England captaincy to John Terry. The lad is a natural leader, inspires others by his own performance, and isn\'t prone to temper tantrums.

At the end of the day, They\'re England football team, and I couldn\'t care less if they were ran by a scotsman in full kilt and sporran playing the bagpipes and watching endless repeats of Braveheart, as long he made them a successful team.

In answer to your question Alan, would that mean If we had an all English set up we could not use players that played in Europe.

              Jim.

is there two of you matchman lol .
i am not much into international footie as its media gone mad, to many tossers in pubs thinking they know it all and even worse spilling my beer but if i had my way there would be no foreign influences(english not a foreign manager ) in the england team and also in the league teams for that matter. it would be so much better if younger english players who want to play football came through the ranks. football is just a big business now its not football like it used to be.
anyway we are not going to win so why worry, yes worry cos when we get put out all the idiots will go around the towns and cities trashing the place as usual.
anyway the weekend is upon us again so its time to relax have a couple of beers with wor lass and a few mates and maybe get out and do a bit fishing

sorry i have made a right hash of this post but i know most of you will get my drift. a foreign manager like we have seen is not intrested in the british team, it all just about money in pockets

                    cheers
                    mark

I always laugh when these players get the choice of International team they wanna play for because their great uncle had a fortnights holiday in that paticular country just after the war!
                        Cheers, Keith.
