Like Duncan, I cannot comment on the lifespan of the Sea Kings. However why oh why are we paying a private American company to provide search and rescue services for the next 10 years at a cost of 1.6 billion?
Why not provide the army/navy with replacement helicopters and continue with what was a very good and often heroic public service?
Private companies must make a profit, so if they can do it cheaper than our armed forces, surely the service must be getting reduced?
Is this what we want? I despair about this and previous governments who just want to save a few quid!!2016 - Cod, Dab, Dogfish, Gurnard, Ling, Mackerel, Saithe, Scorpian fish. .
