I see that Coaches John Carver and Graham Barrow have been charged with misconduct by the FA following the Wigan v Newcastle match on Sunday. I would like to congratulate the three officials on spotting this horrific incident at half time. Luckily the rest of the game went on without anything of note happening.

It's a complete joke. As the officials are now saying that they seen the incident but decided to take no action they should never be allowed near a football pitch again.Tight lines

the refs have coverd it up to save there a@#s mate! there would have been a full enquiery by the fa so with one of them now saying that they seen it they dont have to go to any hearings! nowt like looking after your own like
on a lighter note the ref incharge of the wigan game is going to retire now aparently
oh and did anyone here dave whelan saying that he seen nothing wrong with the tackle and macnamara got the ball ''CLEAN AS A WHISTLE'' i really wonder what drugs they are giving out at the DW staduim now

I've always seen Halsey as one of the better referees and I certainly don't think there was anything intentional on his part and that he genuinely had his view blocked of the incident. But the view the linesman had of the incident was perfect and there was no excuse for him not to flag it up for the wreckless, dangerous assault that the challenge was.
Under the current rules the FA have acted consistently so it is maybe a change to the rules that is required. Two Newcastle players have been sent off this season for high challenges, Tiote at Sunderland and Coloccini against Liverpool but neither were anywhere near as bad as the challenge by Macmanaman, they served bans, why shouldn'd he? The ban should have been at least 4 games, 3 games for violent conduct and another game to reflect the game he should have lost by being sent off.
Also the video review system seems to be very selective, a case in point was Cabaye being retrospectively banned for an innoculous kick in the FA cup game against Brighton last season.
The FA certainly look after thier own.
The quality of decisions from officials this season seems to have gone downhill for me, I don't know why, maybe more and more pressure. Luckily this is the first game this season that Newcastle have lost a game due to poor officiating, mostly it's been down to poor play, but there is a bright side to rubbish refereeing, look at Sunderland's game on Sunday. They did alright eh?

maybe football should do what rugby has a citing official, who can report any foul play that goes unseen by the the ref or linesmen. To me that tackle was an absolute disgraceAlanComment

Far Far to much politics goes on in football and I have have witnessed it from being a junior football coach all the way up to the highest level....It's funny how lots of average footballers make it up to the highest echelons of the game whereas there are a lot and I mean a hell of a lot of really talented kids who are not picked up by clubs or who drop out of the game.
back to the tackle....there are too many big incidents in a game where so much money is involved for the game not to consider a video linesman.

anyone notice the deliberate handball straight after? The linesman didnt as he was still 20 yards out of position and staring at the victim. 20 yards at most away and with a clear view of the tackle, bet you dont hear of him again after missing 2 straight sending offsComment
