  • Lead melting

    Whats do you guys use to melt your lead? i want to start makeing them but not sure what to buy to melt ther lead dont want to spend loads any idears?

    There is a few lads on here who make leads so they will probably give you the best advice, I think cast iron pans and some even use tea pots, obviously not the ones you plug in the wall lol

        im sure these are part of the kit for most welding gloves goggles and a hat,
        be care ful if you melt lead pipe its often got water in

          The replies pretty much sum it up.

          I use one of these Foker Large Cast Iron Burner with an old stainless steel pan, a spoon to scrape the slag off the top, and occasionally an extra blow-torch to speed up melting the lead.
          A heavy duty pair of gloves are a must, eye protection is sensible.
          Tin snips help cutting the lead to fit the pan.
          Do your melting outside to avoid the fumes and pick a calm DRY day.
