took a reel over to i.d. today for repair,only to be told they are not able to help as Ron the reel man is only working 3hours per week and has to much on

the spool runs fine,when free,soon as the drag goes on rough as a badgers to wind
feels like the gears crunching,but andy says its a bearing
but your right still works and not pleasant to use

If you don't mind posting the reel away try Russ at Blakdog, top bloke to deal with. I sent him my 7HT Mag last year and he did a top job at a good price.

Or send him a pm through WSF (if you are on there) and he should get back to you soon enough. Having dealt with Russ if he can sort your problem without you sending the reel off he probably will.CLIP IT AND WHACK IT

Have a look at the schematic Dunc.
Bearings 1072165 or 1078241 could be the culprits and shouldn't be too difficult to change.
It's always the side plate bearing that goes on Shimano TLDs
