  • BMW engine mechanic needed

Can anyone please recommend an experienced bmw mechanic who might be able to help fix my car. I have been quoted between £1600 - £3000 to repair / replace 2 Vanos units on my e39 hoping someone may be able to do it for a lot less.

    Thanks

your not going to believe it, but i just sold my crankshaft locking kit and vanos set up tools on monday, i got them when i replaced the heads on my 4.4 range rover (bmw m62 engine), not sure which engine you have but the kit fitted all the bmw engines.
You could have borrowed it no probs, easy job to do with the correct tools and patience.

Thanks that might have been really usefull. I know you can buy a refurb kit reasonably cheaply. Its the dismantling thats a bit daunting. Its a 5 litre petrol btw.
