Big mackerel baits and you'll not fail to get a ling.

        Good Luck!
        Cheers, Keith.

As Keith says a nice big macky fillett on a slow drift and that could get your double figure ding a ling mate.
Remember to let us know how you get on.

Nice Fresh Bloody Mackerel On A Flowing (Not To Long) Trace Scotty. Dont Be To Eager To Strike As Ling Tend To Nibble Very Gently When There On Your Bait. Well Thats What I've Found. Hope To See Your Name On The Royal Quays Competion Leader Board Scotty.

What I do is use a short flowing trace with 2 8/0 hooks fitted in pennel style I place the top hook through the mackys nose the bottom hook through its back then cut in half and slice its belly open then I get some thin metal wire and push it through the eye of the bottom hook and wrap it around the macky this keeps the hook from ripping out easy I also find the best time for ling is slack water good luck Scotty

I think the competion held at Royals Quays is on a monthly basis,( I maybe wrong). If yours is the heaviest fish caught in that month you recieve a £10 voucher for Billy's Tackle Shop.If Your really lucky and catch the heaviest fish in the season the boat owner will love you to bits as you win £100 of fuel to be used at the fueling station at Royal Quays Plus A £10 Voucher.
As I've already said I maybe wrong and what you have just read is a load of B*ll*cks. Ask Norman on Saturday or I'm Sure A Privateer Berthed At Royal Quays Will Post The Correct Answer.

Almost ... I believe the heaviest fish is if you beat the current and is for each week ending on a sunday evening with a voucher if you do beat the current heaviest.

The rest is correct with the main prize of the season being £100 of fuel for the boat on which it was caught along with a bottle of xxx.

All being well this saturday morning is the time for big ling with the tide being low at 6.45 am (long past our set off time ) we could be over the 8 or 10 mile wrecks by that time streaming fresh mackerel juices downtide ...... (unless somewhere else keeps us busy first ) ... good luck lads.
